The Vancouver Venturers Walking Club is a noncompetitive walking club who provides an annual calendar of group walks in the beautifully scenic settings of Vancouver and the surrounding regions. Our mission is to promote FUN, FITNESS AND FRIENDSHIP throughout the Vancouver area to walkers of all ages.

	1	2 Richmond - Terra Nova - West Dyke & Railway Greenway 10:00 am – 1:00 pm April 2, 2024 Come Walk With Us on part of the old railway route now converted to walking paths as we walk to the Middle Arm Dyke pathway. While walking on this dyke trail beside the Middle Arm of the Fraser River we get to watch many planes taking off and landing at the Vancouver Airport. As we continue, this Middle Arm Dyke path changes to the West Dyke path and if it is the right time of the year, you will see many herons, eagles and thousands of Snow Geese. Don’t miss this walk. We will also walk through Mountain View Cemetery (“Where Vancouver Remembers”) - opened in 1886. Some famous Canadians are buried here. We will see the main part of the cemetery and the Jewish, Japanese and Chinese parts of the cemetery. For the 10K, there is an option to walk outside of the cemetery. 7 Vancouver - Arbutus Greenway (South) 10:00 am – 1:00 pm April 7, 2024 Start Point: Meet in Parking Lot, Kerrisdale Cyclone Taylor Arena, 5670 East Boulevard Description: 5, 10k (Rating 2B) This walk goes along the southern part of the Arbutus Greenway, from 41st Ave to SW Marine Drive, passing by community gardens, and through interesting residential areas. Starting in the downtown core, head towards the Seawall, passing the Inukshuk at English Bay in the West End and Sunset Beach Park. Travelling east, visit the heritage Canadian Pacific Railway Roundhouse and the Engine 374 Display Pavilion which houses Locomotive No. 374. Continue along the Seawall to Science World, the centre of Expo 86 and also a centrepiece for the 2010 Olympics. Route passes by Memorial Park, the Fraser River & South Arm marshes along residential streets. On the way, you will see the iconic Hollow tree, a Vancouver Heritage. Do you know there is a softball field in Stanley Park? Then down to the Seawall to the south side of Beaver Lake and to the Rose Garden. There are two 5K route options: (i) walk mostly on the east side of the Seawall and back via the Rose Garden (ii) walk on trails to Beaver Lake, the Aquarium and back via the Seawall. Devonian Harbour Park 1929 West Georgia St Vancouver, BC V6G 2W9 View Location Map	17	18 Richmond - Steveston - Railway Greenway & Dykes 10:00 am – 1:00 pm April 18, 2024 Steveston Rocks (WALKS)!!! Follow part of the old railway route that has been converted to walking paths. We pass the very historic home of one of the original Steveston pioneers and then head back to the West Dyke. The variety of birds that you will get to see while walking on the dykes is amazing. This walk ends by walking back through the village and along the boardwalk by the marina. It’s an interesting mixture of a suburban park and the original forested habitat in the area. The park contains trails bordered by forest and a creek that enters a small lake (Squint Lake). 21 Vancouver - Kitsilano/West Point Grey - Burrard Bridge/Granville Island 10:00 am – 1:00 pm April 21, 2024 Walk is along Kitsilano Beach to Vanier Park and cross Burrard Street Bridge. Follow the Seawall to David Lam Park, then take the water taxi to Stamps Landing. Then continue to Granville Island back to Kitsilano Beach. Enjoy spectacular views from the bridge, the Seawall and the water taxi. The 6k will not cross Burrard Bridge but will go to Granville Island. Chapters/Indigo Books 2505 Granville Street Vancouver,, BC Map	24	25 North Vancouver - Lonsdale Quay - Spirit Trail West - McKay Creek 10:00 am – 1:00 pm April 25, 2024 Walk the Spirit Trail west of Lonsdale Quay along the scenic waterfront with beautiful floating homes and spectacular views of the water and city across the Burrard Inlet. Then, head north through several parks following McKay Creek, walking along Ravine Greenway and then to Mosquito Creek. Immerse yourself amongst the trees and the sound of water. Enjoy this walk with a mix of boardwalks, nature and urban trails. 28 West Vancouver - Ambleside - Architecture & Historical Walk 10:00 am – 1:00 pm April 28, 2024 This is a wonderful easy, sometimes breezy, walk along the lower road of Dundarave, West Bay and Altamont neighborhoods. You will encounter beautiful scenery, huge cedars, lovely lavish gardens, quaint tucked-away beaches and architecturally-renowned mansions. Along the route, fascinating “Fun Facts for Free” are noted. (If interested in knowing a little bit more, a separate page will be offered by the host). 21 Vancouver - Kitsilano/West Point Grey - Burrard Bridge/Granville Island 10:00 am – 1:00 pm April 21, 2024 Walk is along Kitsilano Beach to Vanier Park and cross Burrard Street Bridge. Follow the Seawall to David Lam Park, then take the water taxi to Stamps Landing. Then continue to Granville Island back to Kitsilano Beach. Enjoy spectacular views from the bridge, the Seawall and the water taxi. The 6k will not cross Burrard Bridge but will go to Granville Island. Then, head north through several parks following McKay Creek, walking along Ravine Greenway and then to Mosquito Creek. Immerse yourself amongst the trees and the sound of water. Enjoy this walk with a mix of boardwalks, nature and urban trails. 28 West Vancouver - Ambleside - Architecture & Historical Walk 10:00 am – 1:00 pm April 28, 2024 This is a wonderful easy, sometimes breezy, walk along the lower road of Dundarave, West Bay and Altamont neighborhoods. You will encounter beautiful scenery, huge cedars, lovely lavish gardens, quaint tucked-away beaches and architecturally-renowned mansions. Along the route, fascinating “Fun Facts for Free” are noted. (If interested in knowing a little bit more, a separate page will be offered by the host).
