The Cariboo Hill neighbourhood is the ultimate destination of this walk. Passing through Robert Burnaby Park we then explore the trails of the George Derby (Cariboo) Conservation Area and on to Cariboo Park before walking through more of the park trails on our return to Edmonds. Sunday, May 3, 2026(1 event) Richmond - Terra Nova - West Dyke & Railway Greenway – Come Walk With Us on part of the old railway route now converted to walking paths as we walk to the Middle Arm Dyke pathway. While walking on this dyke trail beside the Middle Arm of the Fraser River we get to watch many planes taking off and landing at the Vancouver Airport. As we continue, this Middle Arm Dyke path changes to the West Dyke path and if it is the right time of the year, you will see many herons, eagles and thousands of Snow Geese. Don’t miss this walk. As you exit the park, proceed along Ferry Rd to the South Arm Marshes where a little bit of unexpected magic awaits you. This route also passes through Ernie Burnett Park & a rare gem of nature known only to locals so it has yet to be named. We will head to Coal Harbour and walk counter-clockwise on the seawall around Stanley Park. The 10/11 km Seawall loop around iconic Stanley Park is a “MUST SEE” and “MUST DO” activity in Vancouver. It is one of our series of 7 walks in Stanley Park. It offers breathtaking views of Vancouver harbour, the city skyline, North Shore Mountains & English Bay. This route goes past famous landmarks and heritage features such as First Nations Totem Poles, Brockton Point & Prospect Point Lighthouses, Siwash Rock. There are beaches, rock cliffs and coastal forests of majestic cedar, hemlock and fir trees. You will see popular west coast wildlife, including marine life: squirrels, raccoons, skunks, coyotes, herons, eagles, seals and otters. Come to Ladner and experience the residential, historical, and community infrastructures of this small community. You will pass by a hospital, community centre, firehall and last but not least, an active Augustinian monastery. Historic structures include the Harris Barn and Kirkland House. Notably, the Forest of the Future Garden was funded by a pair of Volkssporting pioneers. This is one of the most diverse walks offered in South Delta. The 6k route is the Pioneer Walk and the 5k route is the Essential Workers Walk. A moderate uphill walk, with some steep sections, along urban trails and gravel paths, to the mountain via Burnaby Mountain Urban Trail, the Gnome's Home and Pandora Trails. Find those gnomes! A reward waiting for you at the top - enjoy the panoramic views of downtown Vancouver, the North Shore mountains, Deep Cove and Indian Arm and the garden when the roses are blooming. This walk explores the southern slope of East Burnaby. After a quick tour of the Middlegate neighborhood and walking by the Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre, we head to Byrne Creek Ravine Park where we descend the stairs on the west side to walk along Byrne Creek before returning up the east side to the BC Parkway and Stride Avenue Ravine Park. Sunday, May 24, 2026(1 event) Richmond - Woodward's Landing/Finn Slough – Enjoy a pleasant walk beside the Fraser River and past Finn Slough, a historic fishing village that has existed since the late 1800s. Built on swampland, Finn Slough (pronounced ‘Slew’) consists of floating homes, houses on stilts, and both active and retired fishing boats. If there has ever been a walk when you wanted to say "I did not know that was there", this walk will be one of those. It may be a "WOW" experience for you. This is also an opportunity to walk in the PNE grounds, including the Sanctuary, Momiji gardens, Italian gardens and the Hastings Racecourse. Then, onwards to New Brighton Park, a waterfront park facing the North Shore mountains with beach access to Burrard Inlet. The history of Vancouver starts here. On your way back, you cannot miss the oldest wooden roller coaster, Playland's most historic and spectacular attraction. This walk goes through “villages” of Ambleside and Park Royal with interesting shops and eateries. Then walk north along the edge of the Capilano River, a salmon-spawning river, in West Vancouver crossing over to North Vancouver and continue along the river all the way up close to Upper Levels (Highway 1). Return to West Vancouver via an overpass close to the mouth of the river with panoramic views of English Bay and Vancouver. Enjoy more views along Ambleside Park/Beach all the way to Centennial Seawalk. There is an option to cross Lions Gate Bridge. This will add another 3k to the walk.
