Richmond - Richmond Centre, Three Parks
Tue, September 1, 2020 –
We'll see 3 very unique parks in the heart of Richmond. Paulik Park is quite small (6 acres) but interesting, (make sure you see the “House of Roots” sculpture) Garden City Community Park is large (24 acres) all planned to create the great outdoors in the city. Lagoons for water storage and habitat for water fowl, many different tree specimens all labeled so we know what they are, and watch for the rabbits. The last park “ Garden City Lands” (136 acres) we walk through is in the development stage. Future work to complete the park consists of boardwalks and lookouts, an extensive trail system through the site, a community hub with gardens and spaces for events and festivals, public art and other cultural landscape elements, and an eight-acre “rise” mound at the northeast corner of the site with seating and picnicking, pathways, open grass meadow areas, and fruit and woodlot trees. How interesting- each time we walk here - NEW things to see. This is one of 8 walks in our “Explore Richmond” series.
Trail Rating: 1B
*** Registration starts 30 minutes prior to start time. All walkers must register no later than 5 minutes prior to start time. ***
Immediately following the walk, you may wish to join some of your fellow walkers for lunch at the White Spot located in Richmond centre Mall.
