Thursday, April 3, 2025(1 event) Vancouver - Stanley Park - Aquarium - Hollow Tree – Part Seawall starting from Coal Harbour, and trails up to Prospect Point and along trails with old trees, including the Hollow Tree, a Vancouver Heritage. This walk will also take us to the Vancouver Aquarium - check out the old bear pit and the Killer Whale sculpture by the famous Bill Reid. There are two 5K route options: (i) walk mostly on the east side of the Seawall and back via the Rose Garden (ii) walk on trails to Beaver Lake, the Aquarium and back via the Seawall. Saturday, April 5, 2025(1 event) Richmond - Steveston - Railway Greenway & Dykes – Steveston Rocks (WALKS)!!! Follow part of the old railway route that has been converted to walking paths. We pass the very historic home of one of the original Steveston pioneers and then head back to the West Dyke. The variety of birds that you will get to see while walking on the dykes is amazing. This walk ends by walking back through the village and along the boardwalk by the marina. This is one of 11 walks in our “Explore Richmond” series. As you walk along the trails beside the Fraser River, you will see the last one-room schoolhouse in Delta and the Victorian style House Burrvilla, which is reportedly home to over 3000 bats. Thank goodness bats are nocturnal! The dyke loop offers views of farmland and you might even see a llama. Who knew you could walk over the Massey Tunnel? Tuesday, April 8, 2025(1 event) Vancouver - Kitsilano/West Point Grey - Locarno Beach – Route is in West Point Grey. You will see older homes with varied architecture, including 1940s to 1950s housing in a neighbourhood called “Little Australia”. Then into another area with beautiful mansions; some of the most expensive homes in Vancouver are located here. Return along Spanish Banks, Locarno Beach and Jericho Beach. Thursday, April 10, 2025(1 event) Vancouver - Kerrisdale - Marpole - Fraser River Park –
Enjoy walking the Arbutus Greenway, Marpole neighbourhoods and along the extensive boardwalk beside the Fraser River, where salt and freshwater meet as the Fraser meets the Pacific Ocean. Beautiful views of the Fraser River from the boardwalks that cross restored tidal marshes and snake between stands of poplar and alder trees. Barges, boats and log booms on the river and the Vancouver Airport runways are just beyond. This part of the walk is the highlight and not to be missed. Sunday, April 13, 2025(1 event) West Vancouver - Ambleside - Capilano River – This walk goes through “villages” of Ambleside and Park Royal with interesting shops and eateries. Then walk north along the edge of the Capilano River, a salmon-spawning river, in West Vancouver crossing over to North Vancouver and continue along the river all the way up close to Upper Levels (Highway 1). Return to West Vancouver via an overpass close to the mouth of the river with panoramic views of English Bay and Vancouver. Enjoy more views along Ambleside Park/Beach all the way to Centennial Seawalk. There is an option to cross Lions Gate Bridge. This will add another 3k to the walk. Walk through residential East Vancouver & then the trails & pathways in Queen Elizabeth Park. Enjoy the quarry garden, arboretum & public art. Return via Nat Bailey Stadium, Riley Park and passing Mountain View Cemetery. The 5k walk will not go to Queen Elizabeth Park. This leisurely walk, in the northeastern section of the City of Burnaby, follows a series of gravel paths and urban trails. The area has an interesting mixture of suburban park and the original forested habitat. Sunday, April 20, 2025(1 event) Richmond - Terra Nova - Rural Park – Come Walk With Us in this peaceful northwest corner of Richmond. Starting from the Thompson Community Center we walk through residential neighbourhoods and trails passing through lush green marshlands. Upon reaching the dyke, we view the Strait of Georgia, the North Shore mountains and distant Gulf Islands peaks. Tuesday, April 22, 2025(1 event) North Vancouver - Lonsdale Quay - Spirit Trail West - Mahon Park – This walk will take you on forest trails in a few parks surrounded by creeks – Mahon Park, Mosquito Creek Park, Heywood Park and Lower MacKay Creek Park. Immerse yourself amongst the trees and the sound of water, in particular the roaring creeks on rainy days! Return via Spirit Trail along the scenic waterfront with spectacular views of the water and city across the Burrard Inlet and beautiful float houses. Enjoy this walk which has a mix of boardwalks, nature and urban trails. The 6k will only go to Mahon Park. Walk is along Kitsilano Beach to Vanier Park and cross Burrard Street Bridge. Follow the Seawall to David Lam Park, then take the water taxi to Stamps Landing. Then continue to Granville Island back to Kitsilano Beach. Enjoy spectacular views from the bridge, the Seawall and the water taxi. The 6k will not cross Burrard Bridge but will go to Granville Island.
