This leisurely walk, in the northeastern section of the City of Burnaby, follows a series of gravel paths and urban trails. The area has an interesting mixture of suburban park and the original forested habitat. Start Point: Parking Lot, 1541 Greystone Dr, Burnaby, BC V5A 1T4 Directions: Parking Lot is accessed via roadway into Burnaby Mountain Golf Course. Routes go along Kitsilano Beach & residential streets, then to Vanier Park & back. The 6k will not go to Vanier Park. Distance: 6/10K routes. Saturday, June 7, 2025(1 event) Vancouver - Downtown - Chinatown – The 10K route goes through Downtown Vancouver, Canada Place, Gastown and Chinatown with an opportunity to walk inside the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Park. It also includes a heritage walk through the oldest residential neighbourhood in the City of Vancouver and discover historic buildings and sidewalk mosaics. Heading towards Waterfront Rd., we will get a view of the busy Port of Vancouver and pass the SeaBus Terminal and Vancouver Convention Centre. Return to Downtown along the Seawall.. Distance: 10k. Sunday, June 8, 2025(1 event) North Vancouver - Lonsdale Quay - Edgemont Village – Walk along the Spirit Trail, then through Mosquito Creek Park to Edgemont Village, a quaint little area with one-of-a-kind retail stores and a vibrant community. You might feel like you are in a mountain resort as Grouse Mountain is not far away. Then down to a 1950’s cabin and pond where a number of shows, including the Virgin River series, were filmed. Next comes Murdo Frazer Pitch & Putt, Heywood Park, Pemberton Heights and back to Mosquito Creek Park. Don’t miss this walk! Lots to explore. Tuesday, June 10, 2025(1 event) Richmond - Steveston - Britannia Shipyards – Description: Walk along the picturesque South Arm Dyke of the Fraser River. Explore the historical site “London Farm” that tells the story of farming in Steveston from 1880 to 1930. Be surprised by the water traffic on the river. We walk beside the river for most of this walk. This is a fantastic walk that will have you saying “I did not know that was there”. Thursday, June 12, 2025(1 event) Delta-Tsawwassen - Beach Grove Rambles Exchange Walk – This walk goes through the very old community of Beach Grove in Tsawwassen, South Delta. Beach Grove originated as a cottage community before the George Massey tunnel was built. In the 1930’s and 1940’s, it was considered a remote location – you had to take a ferry to get there! We will pass by some of the original cottages, as well as walk a scenic dyke, some mud flats and briefly visit Boundary Bay Regional Park. The community has grown a lot since the “olden days” but provides a unique charm with lots of shady pathways on those hot summer days! We will also see the award-winning “Flandez House” (complete with rooftop piano) – an unexpected and stunning piece of modern architecture amid our “rambling” route! This is an Exchange Walk with Victoria Pathfinders and the Bastion City Wanderers. This walk takes you to Granville Island & along the Seaside Greenway to Olympic Village, Science World to Coopers’ Park, cross Cambie Bridge & return to Granville Island. Check out what Granville Island has to offer as you walk around the Island. The 6K walk will only go to Charleson Park & Granville Island. Saturday, June 21, 2025(1 event) Richmond - Central Richmond - Minoru Park/Middle Arm Dyke – Come Walk With Us and explore Minoru Park (very nice park) and some quiet residential neighbourhoods on our way to the Middle Arm Dyke system that protects the city of Richmond. This part of the dyke pathway is amazing, looking over to the airport, watching planes leave and arrive, very often getting to see row boats, dragon boats or sculls in the Fraser River, walking past the Richmond Oval, and the UBC Boathouse which is a fully floating facility. Tuesday, June 24, 2025(1 event) West Vancouver - Ambleside - Capilano River – This walk goes through “villages” of Ambleside and Park Royal with interesting shops and eateries. Then walk north along the edge of the Capilano River, a salmon-spawning river, in West Vancouver crossing over to North Vancouver and continue along the river all the way up close to Upper Levels (Highway 1). Return to West Vancouver via an overpass close to the mouth of the river with panoramic views of English Bay and Vancouver. Enjoy more views along Ambleside Park/Beach all the way to Centennial Seawalk. There is an option to cross Lions Gate Bridge. This will add another 3k to the walk. Sunday, June 29, 2025(1 event) Delta - Tsawwassen - Heron Rookery Exchange Walk – This walk includes 4 Tsawwassen Neighborhoods, First Nations land, and the largest blue heron rookery in B.C. The neighborhoods include: Seaside (built 2020), Tsawwassen Springs (built 2010 to 2020), Imperial Village (1990’s), Candlewyck (1970’S/80’s). The Tsatsu rookery is particularly active between February and May each year. This walk also features a small walkway adjacent to an organic farm and some bee hives. Check out the crops on offer this year (usually potatoes or cabbages) but beware of manure smells in May – it is “organic” after all! Note: There are two 5K routes. (i) Starts at the South Delta Recreation Centre - does not go to the rookery (ii) Register at the South Delta Recreation Centre, then drive to Pat Quinn's. Tuesday, July 1, 2025(1 event) Richmond - Terra Nova - Rural Park – Come Walk With Us in this peaceful northwest corner of Richmond. Starting from the Thompson Community Center we walk through residential neighbourhoods and trails passing through lush green marshlands. Upon reaching the dyke, we view the Strait of Georgia, the North Shore mountains and distant Gulf Islands peaks. Walk through residential East Vancouver & then the trails & pathways in Queen Elizabeth Park. Enjoy the quarry garden, arboretum & public art. Return via Nat Bailey Stadium, Riley Park and passing Mountain View Cemetery. The 5k walk will not go to Queen Elizabeth Park.
