Sunday, September 29, 2024(1 event) Vancouver - Stanley Park - Prospect Point - Lions Gate Bridge – This walk has everything. Walk by the Bayshore West Marina to Lost Lagoon, through old growth forests, exiting the forest trails to world class views from Prospect Point. Crossing the Lions Gate bridge we are rewarded with spectacular views both to the west and to the east. Walking back into Stanley Park travel down to the Seawall then up the Ravine Trail to Beaver Lake and finally under the causeway at Lost Lagoon, and back to the City. Tuesday, October 1, 2024(1 event) Richmond - Steveston - Railway Greenway & Dykes – Steveston Rocks (WALKS)!!! Follow part of the old railway route that has been converted to walking paths. We pass the very historic home of one of the original Steveston pioneers and then head back to the West Dyke. The variety of birds that you will get to see while walking on the dykes is amazing. This walk ends by walking back through the village and along the boardwalk by the marina. This is one of 11 walks in our “Explore Richmond” series. Thursday, October 3, 2024(1 event) Vancouver - Downtown - Chinatown – The 10K route goes through Downtown Vancouver, Canada Place, Gastown and Chinatown with an opportunity to walk inside the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Park. It also includes a heritage walk through the oldest residential neighbourhood in the City of Vancouver and discover historic buildings and sidewalk mosaics. Heading towards Waterfront Rd., we will get a view of the busy Port of Vancouver and pass the SeaBus Terminal and Vancouver Convention Centre. Return to Downtown along the Seawall.. Distance: 10k. Sunday, October 6, 2024(1 event) West Vancouver - Ambleside - Lions Gate Bridge - Prospect Point – This is an extension of the Eastern loop which goes through “villages” of Ambleside and Park Royal. Then cross Lions Gate Bridge to Prospect Point in Stanley Park. Return via the beach in Ambleside Park. The route offers panoramic views of Burrard Inlet and Vancouver. Tuesday, October 8, 2024(1 event) Richmond - Central Richmond- Shell Road Trail – A very nice addition to our Richmond Series of walks. A flat (as all Richmond walks are) relaxing walk in Central Richmond. Walking in Garden City Community Park is always a treat with the lagoons and waterfowl to enjoy. The 10K route saves the best for last as we walk a few kilometres on the Shell Road Trail. This rural trail, hidden amongst some interesting neighbourhoods, is a calming walk on a tree-lined (really a tunnel of trees) trail. A very interesting walk to explore. Walk is along Kitsilano Beach to Vanier Park and cross Burrard Street Bridge. Follow the Seawall to David Lam Park, then take the water taxi to Stamps Landing. Then continue to Granville Island back to Kitsilano Beach. Enjoy spectacular views from the bridge, the Seawall and the water taxi. The 6k will not cross Burrard Bridge but will go to Granville Island. Tuesday, October 15, 2024(1 event) Vancouver - Stanley Park- Trails (Connie's Walk) – On this walk, you will enjoy magnificent views of Coal Harbour, the Brockton Point Lighthouse, Lumberman’s Arch and the Variety Kids water park. Here we turn off the Seawall into the trails. View the Japanese Canadian War Monument, the Miniature Railway, the Pavilion Gardens and the Rose Garden before enjoying more natural surroundings of trails leading to Beaver Lake and on to Second Beach. Thursday, October 17, 2024(1 event) Richmond - Terra Nova - West Dyke & Railway Greenway – Come Walk With Us on part of the old railway route now converted to walking paths as we walk to the Middle Arm Dyke pathway. While walking on this dyke trail beside the Middle Arm of the Fraser River we get to watch many planes taking off and landing at the Vancouver Airport. As we continue, this Middle Arm Dyke path changes to the West Dyke path and if it is the right time of the year, you will see many herons, eagles and thousands of Snow Geese. Don’t miss this walk. Saturday, October 19, 2024(1 event) Delta - Tsawwassen FN - Farm and Industry Walk – Tsawwassen FN – Farm & Industry Walk Malls and crops and oceans…oh, my! This walk has it all. We walk the length of the Tsawwassen Mills Mall, passing by a gigantic bear sculpture and ending at the giant “Bass Pro” aquarium. We then venture outside and follow a shady path bordering farmland. Our journey continues through the new Tsawwassen Shores and Peregrine South housing developments, through the Tsawwassen Reserve then eventually onto a boardwalk where we enjoy a scenic view of the foreshore and Georgia Strait intertidal zone. In the distance, you will see the Roberts Bank and Deltaport shipping terminals, two of the major terminals for exports from our country. We loop back to our start point, passing by a very old aboriginal cemetery and some walkers may wish to pause and pay their respects. Old and new – this is a walk of great contrasts. The 7k goes through the residential section of the TFN and also incorporates a lengthy boardwalk over the salt marshes. Start Location: We will meet inside Tsawwassen Mills mall entrance #3. Sunday, October 20, 2024(1 event) North Vancouver - Lonsdale Quay - Spirit Trail West - Mahon Park – This walk will take you on forest trails in a few parks surrounded by creeks – Mahon Park, Mosquito Creek Park, Heywood Park and Lower MacKay Creek Park. Immerse yourself amongst the trees and the sound of water, in particular the roaring creeks on rainy days! Return via Spirit Trail along the scenic waterfront with spectacular views of the water and city across the Burrard Inlet and beautiful float houses. Enjoy this walk which has a mix of boardwalks, nature and urban trails. The 6k will only go to Mahon Park. Walk through the Rose Garden. Then to the north side of Lost Lagoon. Check out the Rhododendron Garden and the Blue Heron Colony, one of the largest urban colony in North America.
