The Western loop goes through “village” of Dundarave, Memorial Park, Dundarave Park and along Centennial Seawalk. The Eastern loop goes through “villages” of Ambleside, Park Royal and along the edge of Ambleside Park. Walk goes through residential areas and Memorial South Park. We will also walk through Mountain View Cemetery (“Where Vancouver Remembers”) - opened in 1886. Some famous Canadians are buried here. We will see the main part of the cemetery and the Jewish, Japanese and Chinese parts of the cemetery. For the 10K, there is an option to walk outside of the cemetery. Discover what makes Tsawwassen so livable. Walk through Beach Grove where life is “in the slow lane”, pass by golf courses and through nice neighbourhoods. Sunday, December 8, 2024(1 event) Richmond - Central Richmond- Shell Road Trail – A very nice addition to our Richmond Series of walks. A flat (as all Richmond walks are) relaxing walk in Central Richmond. Walking in Garden City Community Park is always a treat with the lagoons and waterfowl to enjoy. The 10K route saves the best for last as we walk a few kilometres on the Shell Road Trail. This rural trail, hidden amongst some interesting neighbourhoods, is a calming walk on a tree-lined (really a tunnel of trees) trail. A very interesting walk to explore. This walk will go along English Bay, up the stairs to Ferguson Point past the Teahouse Restaurant. We will then walk along several trails in the old growth forests where you will see some of the oldest trees in the park. Return via the Seawall along Coal Harbour. Thursday, December 12, 2024(1 event) Delta – Ladner – Pioneers and Essential Workers Walk –
Come to Ladner and experience the residential, historical, and community infrastructures of this small community. You will pass by a hospital, community centre, firehall and last but not least, an active Augustinian monastery. Historic structures include the Harris Barn and Kirkland House. Notably, the Forest of the Future Garden was funded by a pair of Volkssporting pioneers. This is one of the most diverse walks offered in South Delta. The 6k route is the Pioneer Walk and the 5k route is the Essential Workers Walk. REGISTRATION: No walk box is available. To register online: click here to download the Registration Form. The Christmas Lights walk is only available after the first week in December. Best time to do this walk is late afternoon. Route goes through Downtown Vancouver following the signs to “CHRISTMAS AT CANADA PLACE” for the Woodward’s windows and Canada’s North light display. Then up the living green roof to see the CHRISTMAS MARKET at Jack Poole Plaza. Walk along the Seaside Greenway (Seawall), to the beautiful marina in Coal Harbour, passing Westin Bayshore Hotel. Continue to the “BRIGHT NIGHTS” in Stanley Park. Return via Beach Avenue all the way to the LIGHTS OF HOPE at St. Paul’s Hospital. Sunday, December 22, 2024(1 event) West Vancouver - Ambleside - Architecture & Historical Walk – This is a wonderful easy, sometimes breezy, walk along the lower road of Dundarave, West Bay and Altamont neighborhoods. You will encounter beautiful scenery, huge cedars, lovely lavish gardens, quaint tucked-away beaches and architecturally-renowned mansions. Along the route, fascinating “Fun Facts for Free” are noted. (If interested in knowing a little bit more, a separate page will be offered by the host).
