Sunday, February 23, 2025(1 event) North Vancouver - Lonsdale Quay - Spirit Trail West - Mahon Park – This walk will take you on forest trails in a few parks surrounded by creeks – Mahon Park, Mosquito Creek Park, Heywood Park and Lower MacKay Creek Park. Immerse yourself amongst the trees and the sound of water, in particular the roaring creeks on rainy days! Return via Spirit Trail along the scenic waterfront with spectacular views of the water and city across the Burrard Inlet and beautiful float houses. As you exit the park, proceed along Ferry Rd to the South Arm Marshes where a little bit of unexpected magic awaits you. This route also passes through Ernie Burnett Park & a rare gem of nature known only to locals so it has yet to be named. Walk is along Kitsilano Beach to Vanier Park and cross Burrard Street Bridge. Follow the Seawall to David Lam Park, then take the water taxi to Stamps Landing. Then continue to Granville Island back to Kitsilano Beach. Enjoy spectacular views from the bridge, the Seawall and the water taxi. The 6k will not cross Burrard Bridge but will go to Granville Island. Saturday, March 1, 2025(1 event) Delta-Tsawwassen - Beach Grove Rambles – This walk goes through the very old community of Beach Grove in Tsawwassen, South Delta. Beach Grove originated as a cottage community before the George Massey tunnel was built. In the 1930’s and 1940’s, it was considered a remote location – you had to take a ferry to get there! We will pass by some of the original cottages, as well as walk a scenic dyke, some mud flats and briefly visit Boundary Bay Regional Park. The community has grown a lot since the “olden days” but provides a unique charm with lots of shady pathways on those hot summer days! We will also see the award-winning “Flandez House” (complete with rooftop piano) – an unexpected and stunning piece of modern architecture amid our “rambling” route! Sunday, March 2, 2025(1 event) Richmond - Steveston - West Dyke – Come Walk With Us and follow part of the old railway route that has been converted to walking paths. We pass the very historic home of one of the original Steveston pioneers and then head back to the West Dyke. The variety of birds that you will get to see while walking on the dykes is amazing. This walk ends by walking back through the village and along the boardwalk by the marina. This is one of 11 walks in our “Explore Richmond” series. Garry Point Park and out and back on a beautiful section of the dyke system that protects Richmond. There are 5km & 10km options for this walk. Sunday, March 9, 2025(1 event) West Vancouver - Ambleside - Architecture & Historical Walk – This is a wonderful easy, sometimes breezy, walk along the lower road of Dundarave, West Bay and Altamont neighborhoods. You will encounter beautiful scenery, huge cedars, lovely lavish gardens, quaint tucked-away beaches and architecturally-renowned mansions. Along the route, fascinating “Fun Facts for Free” are noted. (If interested in knowing a little bit more, a separate page will be offered by the host). Tuesday, March 11, 2025(1 event) Richmond - Central Richmond- Shell Road Trail – A very nice addition to our Richmond Series of walks. A flat (as all Richmond walks are) relaxing walk in Central Richmond. Walking in Garden City Community Park is always a treat with the lagoons and waterfowl to enjoy. The 10K route saves the best for last as we walk a few kilometres on the Shell Road Trail. This rural trail, hidden amongst some interesting neighbourhoods, is a calming walk on a tree-lined (really a tunnel of trees) trail. A very interesting walk to explore. Come to Ladner and experience the residential, historical, and community infrastructures of this small community. You will pass by a hospital, community centre, firehall and last but not least, an active Augustinian monastery. Historic structures include the Harris Barn and Kirkland House. Notably, the Forest of the Future Garden was funded by a pair of Volkssporting pioneers. This is one of the most diverse walks offered in South Delta. If there has ever been a walk when you wanted to say "I did not know that was there", this walk will be one of those. It may be a "WOW" experience for you. This is also an opportunity to walk in the PNE grounds, including the Sanctuary, Momiji gardens, Italian gardens and the Hastings Racecourse. Then, onwards to New Brighton Park, a waterfront park facing the North Shore mountains with beach access to Burrard Inlet. The history of Vancouver starts here. On your way back, you cannot miss the oldest wooden roller coaster, Playland's most historic and spectacular attraction. Sunday, March 23, 2025(1 event) Vancouver - Downtown - Science World – See some of Vancouver's most iconic sights on this route. Starting in the downtown core, we head towards the Seawall, passing the Inukshuk at English Bay in the West End and Sunset Beach Park. Travelling east, we visit the heritage Canadian Pacific Railway Roundhouse and the Engine 374 Display Pavilion which houses Locomotive No. 374. Continue along the Seawall to Science World, the centre of Expo 86 and also a centre piece for the 2010 Olympics. Turning back into the downtown core, we walk underneath the Georgia Viaduct, passing Rogers Arena and BC Place Stadium. The 7K route will only go to the Roundhouse & Yaletown. Thursday, April 3, 2025(1 event) Vancouver - Stanley Park - Aquarium - Hollow Tree – Part Seawall starting from Coal Harbour, and trails up to Prospect Point and along trails with old trees, including the Hollow Tree, a Vancouver Heritage. This walk will also take us to the Vancouver Aquarium - check out the old bear pit and the Killer Whale sculpture by the famous Bill Reid. There are two 5K route options: (i) walk mostly on the east side of the Seawall and back via the Rose Garden (ii) walk on trails to Beaver Lake, the Aquarium and back via the Seawall.
