History

Volkssporting started in the Lower Mainland with two clubs in Chilliwack. Both Rainbow Country and Mount Cheam started with members who had been introduced to non-competitive International Volkssporting events while living in Europe.

The Surrey Trekkers were founded in 1991 to establish a club closer to Vancouver. The Richmond Trailblazers started up in 1993 and in the same year a group of Surrey Trekkers, who lived north of the Fraser River, created the Westcoast Walkers club in Coquitlam.

In early 1997, the Vancouver ‘Venturers Volkssport Club (VVVC) was established, filling the need for a club in Vancouver and area.

VVVC is widely known for producing quality walking events in Vancouver and nearby areas, including West Vancouver, North Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Ladner, Tsawwassen, Squamish, Bowen Island and the Sunshine Coast. Boasting some of the most spectacular natural scenery in the world, walking Vancouver is a must for everyone.

The Vancouver ’Venturers Volkssport Club is now over 25 years old, and continues to provide an annual calendar of noncompetitive group walks in beautifully scenic settings. Our mission is to promote FUN, FITNESS AND FRIENDSHIP throughout the Vancouver area to walkers of all ages.
