DIRECTIONS: By car: From Hwy #99: take Steveston Hwy westbound 5k to No. 2 Rd; Left (south) 1k to Moncton St (flashing light); Right (west) 1k to Steveston Community Centre parking lot. By transit: Take Canada Line to Richmond – Brighouse Station, then take bus #402 (No. 2 Road) to No. 1 Rd & Broadway St, walk 6 mins (450m) to Start Point.

There are four routes.:

 

  1. Britannia Shipyards 5k, 10k (ratings 1BRegister at Start Point & drive to start walk at Parking Lot, Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site, 5180 Westwater Dr. Walk along the picturesque South Arm Dyke of the Fraser River. Explore the historical site “London Farm” that tells the story of farming in Steveston from 1880 to 1930. Be surprised by the water traffic on the river. We walk beside the river for most of this walk. This is a fantastic walk that will have you saying “I did not know that was there”. This is the latest addition to our “Explore Richmond” series – one of 11 walks.
  2. Railway Greenway & Dykes 10k (rating 1B): Walk north on Railway Greenway where we follow part of the old railway route that has been converted to walking paths. We pass the very historic home of one of the original Steveston pioneers and then to the West Dyke. The variety of birds that you will get to see while walking on the dykes is amazing. This walk ends by walking back through the Village and along the boardwalk by the marina.
  3. South Dyke 5k, 10k (rating 1B): This walk really has everything and is well worth the effort to visit Steveston. It features the Fraser River, West Dyke, Garry Point Park & historic village of Steveston.  Walk part of the 35 km of dykes that are in Richmond.
  4. West Dyke 5k, 10k (ratings 1B) This walk is nearly exclusively on the dyke, going out and back, starting through the Village and along the boardwalk by the marina, then to Garry Point Park and up to Blundell Rd. We pass the very historic home of one of the original Steveston pioneers. The variety of birds that you will get to see while walking on the dykes is amazing.
