WalkFest Vancouver 2023

The Vancouver Venturers Volkssport Club is pleased to welcome you to WalkFest Vancouver in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. WalkFest takes place September 22-24, 2023. Boasting some of the world’s most spectacular natural scenery, WalkFest Vancouver promises to wow you with 10 sanctioned walks, a harbour based Walk Central and an optional evening Harbour Cruise and onboard banquet. Vancouver is a port city deep in history and set in scenic vistas of the nearby North Shore Mountains, freshwater lakes and rivers and of course the Pacific Ocean. The world class ski resort of Whistler is just a short drive up the Sea to Sky Highway, and the charming capital of British Columbia, Victoria, is a ferry ride away.

While walking on this dyke trail beside the Middle Arm of the Fraser River we get to watch many planes taking off and landing at the Vancouver Airport. As we continue, this Middle Arm Dyke path changes to the West Dyke path and if it is the right time of the year, you will see many herons, eagles and thousands of Snow Geese. Don’t miss this walk. Follow part of the old railway route that has been converted to walking paths. We pass the very historic home of one of the original Steveston pioneers and then head back to the West Dyke. The variety of birds that you will get to see while walking on the dykes is amazing. This walk ends by walking back through the village and along the boardwalk by the marina. 21 Vancouver - Kitsilano/West Point Grey - Burrard Bridge/Granville Island 10:00 am – 1:00 pm April 21, 2024 Walk is along Kitsilano Beach to Vanier Park and cross Burrard Street Bridge. Follow the Seawall to David Lam Park, then take the water taxi to Stamps Landing. Then continue to Granville Island back to Kitsilano Beach. Enjoy spectacular views from the bridge, the Seawall and the water taxi. The 6k will not cross Burrard Bridge but will go to Granville Island. Then, head north through several parks following McKay Creek, walking along Ravine Greenway and then to Mosquito Creek. Immerse yourself amongst the trees and the sound of water. Enjoy this walk with a mix of boardwalks, nature and urban trails. 28 West Vancouver - Ambleside - Architecture & Historical Walk 10:00 am – 1:00 pm April 28, 2024 This is a wonderful easy, sometimes breezy, walk along the lower road of Dundarave, West Bay and Altamont neighborhoods. You will encounter beautiful scenery, huge cedars, lovely lavish gardens, quaint tucked-away beaches and architecturally-renowned mansions. 21 Vancouver - Kitsilano/West Point Grey - Burrard Bridge/Granville Island 10:00 am – 1:00 pm April 21, 2024 Walk is along Kitsilano Beach to Vanier Park and cross Burrard Street Bridge. Follow the Seawall to David Lam Park, then take the water taxi to Stamps Landing. Then continue to Granville Island back to Kitsilano Beach. Enjoy spectacular views from the bridge, the Seawall and the water taxi. The 6k will not cross Burrard Bridge but will go to Granville Island. Then, head north through several parks following McKay Creek, walking along Ravine Greenway and then to Mosquito Creek. Immerse yourself amongst the trees and the sound of water. Enjoy this walk with a mix of boardwalks, nature and urban trails. 28 West Vancouver - Ambleside - Architecture & Historical Walk 10:00 am – 1:00 pm April 28, 2024 This is a wonderful easy, sometimes breezy, walk along the lower road of Dundarave, West Bay and Altamont neighborhoods. You will encounter beautiful scenery, huge cedars, lovely lavish gardens, quaint tucked-away beaches and architecturally-renowned mansions. Along the route, fascinating “Fun Facts for Free” are noted. (If interested in knowing a little bit more, a separate page will be offered by the host).
