Saturday, May 4, 2024Enjoy walking the Arbutus Greenway, Marpole neighbourhoods and along the extensive boardwalk beside the Fraser River, where salt and freshwater meet as the Fraser meets the Pacific Ocean. Beautiful views of the Fraser River from the boardwalks that cross restored tidal marshes and snake between stands of poplar and alder trees. Barges, boats and log booms on the river and the Vancouver Airport runways are just beyond. This part of the walk is the highlight and not to be missed.

Sunday, May 5, 2024This walk includes 4 Tsawwassen Neighborhoods, First Nations land, and the largest blue heron rookery in B.C. The neighborhoods include: Seaside (built 2020), Tsawwassen Springs (built 2010 to 2020), Imperial Village (1990’s), Candlewyck (1970’S/80’s). The Tsatsu rookery is particularly active between February and May each year. This walk also features a small walkway adjacent to an organic farm and some bee hives. Check out the crops on offer this year (usually potatoes or cabbages) but beware of manure smells in May – it is “organic” after all!
Note: There are two 5K routes. (i) Starts at the South Delta Recreation Centre - does not go to the rookery (ii) Register at the South Delta Recreation Centre, then drive to Pat Quinn's. Walk starts at Pat Quinn's Restaurant & Bar, 5133 Springs Blvd #100 - goes to the rookery.

Explore the historical site “London Farm” that tells the story of farming in Steveston from 1880 to 1930. Be surprised by the water traffic on the river. We walk beside the river for most of this walk. This is a fantastic walk that will have you saying “I did not know that was there”. This is the latest addition to our “Explore Richmond” series - one of 11 walks.

Thursday, May 9, 2024We will walk along the Coal Harbour waterfront from the Convention Centre into Stanley Park where you will be welcomed by Lord Stanley. Walk through the Rose Garden. Then to the north side of Lost Lagoon. Check out the Rhododendron Garden and the Blue Heron Colony, one of the largest urban colony in North America. Pass English Bay and the Inukshuk. Finish with a heritage walk in the West End.

This route also passes through Ernie Burnett Park & a rare gem of nature known only to locals so it has yet to be named. Truly, a “magical” walk!

Thursday, May 16, 2024Walk along the Spirit Trail, then through Mosquito Creek Park to Edgemont Village, a quaint little area with one-of-a-kind retail stores and a vibrant community. You might feel like you are in a mountain resort as Grouse Mountain is not far away. Then down to a 1950’s cabin and pond where a number of shows, including the Virgin River series, were filmed. Next comes Murdo Frazer Pitch & Putt, Heywood Park, Pemberton Heights and back to Mosquito Creek Park. Don’t miss this walk! Lots to explore.

Continue to BC Place Stadium, Seaside Greenway, the Roundhouse and back via Yaletown. Don’t miss this walk. It will take you to some parts of downtown not covered in the other walks. The 6k will only go to Victory Square and then return to the start point.

Both loops have interesting shops and eateries, and offer great views of English Bay and Vancouver.

Thursday, May 23, 2024Enjoy great views of Vancouver harbour and downtown, the North Shore mountains and English Bay. Walking the seawall clockwise we are rewarded with views of Brockton Point Lighthouse, the Lady in a Wetsuit statue, Lions Gate Bridge, Siwash Rock, ships at anchor in the harbour, the Sylvia Hotel and the NEW Laughing Men statues.
There are two 5K route options: (i) walk mostly on the east side of the Seawall and back via the Rose Garden (ii) walk on trails to Beaver Lake, the Aquarium and back via the Seawall.
Start Location: Meet in the sitting area of Devonian Harbour Park, 1929 W Georgia St (NW corner of Denman & W Georgia St - behind the bus stop).

Saturday, May 25, 2024Come Walk With Us and follow part of the old railway route that has been converted to walking paths. We pass the very historic home of one of the original Steveston pioneers and then head back to the West Dyke. The variety of birds that you will get to see while walking on the dykes is amazing. This walk ends by walking back through the village and along the boardwalk by the marina. This is one of 11 walks in our “Explore Richmond” series.
Garry Point Park and out and back on a beautiful section of the dyke system that protects Richmond. There are 5km & 10km options for this walk.

Starting from the Thompson Community Center we walk through residential neighbourhoods and trails passing through lush green marshlands. Upon reaching the dyke, we view the Strait of Georgia, the North Shore mountains and distant Gulf Islands peaks. Keep a lookout for the many herons, eagles and sometimes snow geese that frequent this area.

Thursday, May 30, 2024Come Walk With Us and explore Minoru Park (very nice park) and some quiet residential neighbourhoods on our way to the Middle Arm Dyke system that protects the city of Richmond. This part of the dyke pathway is amazing, looking over to the airport, watching planes leave and arrive, very often getting to see row boats, dragon boats or sculls in the Fraser River, walking past the Richmond Oval, and the UBC Boathouse which is a fully floating facility.
